Last Christmas Kitteh

~

~

Pics from last year.
The cat is Jelloe, my neighbour's.
He didn't eat the whole cake of course.
Only gave him the leftovers which were too many days old
and might not have been safe for human consumption.

The Saga Continues...

The green type of 'cat's-eye' has thicker flesh. I like it more than the yellow type (see pics 2 posts ago).

This brown fruit is also supposed to be a variety of longan. The seed is similar to the cat's-eye seed but the outer shell is hard and crisp. You need to whack it real hard to break it open. Unlike the common longan and the cat's-eye longans, this variety is not as juicy. It has a sweet, drier taste. Love it.

On an unrelated note, The Reel Yelloe Kitteh came around again yesterday. He seemed to miss me and was following me around in the backyard, meowing, wanting to be patted but I didn't want to anymore, since he bites.

Teh kitteh speaks fractured Old English hehe.
Of course I forgive the clueless kitteh.
But am not patting him anymore for safety reasons :)

Stargazer B Eatung Our Eyez!

A "cat's eye".

Moar cats'-eyes :)
.
The mata kuching (literally "cat's eye"), I heard, is a variety of longan, though I dunno how true that is. I also hear it was originally only found in Sibu, though nowadays it is also available elsewhere in Borneo. It is a seasonal fruit available during the fruit season in Sibu, around November-February.
.
The flesh is usually thin, much thinner than the longan, so you can usually see the seed through the translucent flesh, giving it a cat-eye-like appearance. It is also not crunchy. Tasty and sweet, agreeable indeed :)
